Donate how to collect and send books

Do your favourite books sit on a shelf unused? Would you like them to bring a bit of joy to other kids? Send some of your own books to one of our Bookfeeding Projects of your choice!

Follow these steps:

  1. Choose books that you think will be appropriate for the project. Books to include are educational and fictional resources for children aged 2 - 18 years, preferably children books, story books, novels, language textbooks or encyclopaedias. Please DO NOT include any books of a religious, erotic or magical nature due to cultural differences.

  2. Pack it up! You will only need a proper carton box, marker pen, scissors and parcel tape. Choose which project you want to support with your books and write their address in CAPITAL letters on the box.

  3. Add this text: HUMANITARIAN AID FROM (insert your country). NO COMMERCIAL VALUE. NOT FOR RESALE. ELIGIBLE FOR NON-STATISTICAL PROCEDURE.

  4. You can add a nice personal message and a return address! Children will be more than happy to send you a Thank You postcard!

  5. Make sure your box is packed tightly. Bring your package to post office and send via surface mail. Make sure the Postal Service knows it is PRINTED MATERIALS as this usually confers a cheaper rate.

Sending books is a great way to directly empower children through education. This easy and rewarding task will take less than 30 minutes and will have a profound and lasting effect in our small library communities!

Spread the word among your family and friends, many will surely have some great books to donate! If you wish to organize a big book collection (can be as a part of an event, box placed in your local library or even a school project in your class) you can add your location to our map. This way more people can find out about it and donate books or few pennies for the postage!
