Koguta library: Day 1 - shopping time!

Our volunteer arrived to the final destination - Ndori village in Koguta. It is about 20min drive on Boda Boda (motorcycle) from Sondu - the nearest town. After all the suitcases with books were transported to the future library our volunteer was given a long list of materials that was needed. And so the shopping time started!

+1 Another library built and finished!

We are more than happy to announce that our vounteer has just came back from Kenya, where she helped to build another library! And that is not all, she also found two new sites for new libraries! One in Mombasa area called Likoni and second in Uganda in town called Kampala!

We now have over 6 boxes full of amazing books and we are expecting to have even more. As this will be very difficult for one person to transport all the way to Kenya we decided to launch a new scheme! ADOPT A BOX is for all those who do not have books to donate and still want to help.

Aberdeen is collecting books!

What started as a small collection among Unviersity students sudenly turned big when one of our friends - a librarian - was stunned by the idea and organized a large collection at the library. Central library in Aberdeen donated over 100kg of books, Blackwells at campus is now collecting as well and students can now also buy a book from Bookends - University charity second-hand bookshop and donate the book!

The World Book day - and how can you start a collection!

On the Book World Day we shipped 91kg of French and English books to Madagascar! It was an amazingly successful collection organized mainly by Magdalena Machalová from the Czech Republic. As a teacher she linked our project to her classes, introduced the problems of Madagascar to children and raised awareness about the literacy rate there. Read her story and get inspired! After all everyone can start her/his collection and send the books to chosen location!

Colours, paints and brushes!

We could not stare at the blank walls for too long. We had 8kgs of different oil paints, lovely colours! We also had many paint brushes, unpatient children behind the window and bookshelves to be fit in. Look at all the lovely pictures, world map and other things we have painted on the walls!
