TAREO is a registered non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization. It was established in 2002 by a group of development professionals with the aims to empower vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged populations in remote villages and mountain regions. TAREO is in Kilimanjaro, 550km when travelling from Tanzanian capital city, Dar es Salaam.TAREO, in 2008 was official registered as NGO working in Tanzania mainland focusing on rural areas.
The main role of the NGO is to empower the community by focusing on information access, health, education and livelihood support to the children, youths and women. TAREO undertakes a lot of projects which it does in conjunction with the community. TAREO works close with community and project beneficiaries on the projects. The Library at TAREO helps the children and young adults in the surrounding villages to have avid reading in the community, exposure to other scarce books and motivation swinging. The NGO has a computer and technology school called Majengo kids and youth technology which helps in administration. Thadei, who is the leading member or TAREO organization contacted us and applied for a library. On her journey through Africa, Alena, our Bookfeeder, visited Thadei and the community he intended to have the library in. The construction started in January 2019.
