Volunteering From Home

Would you like to get involved and help Bookfeeding Project to grow, building more libraries on the way? There is a hard-working engine behind the scenes of Bookfeeding Project, composed of an international group of amazing volunteers. We constantly look for people who could help us with PR, fundraising, social media, photo and video editing, creating various documents and reports and helping us to monitor and oversee the libraries and projects. We always have a long to-do list which can only be worked-off due to our energetic volunteers. You do not need any expert skills in order to join. You can also join us as an intern, we are happy to provide you with confirmation of that.

Volunteering At One Of Our Libraries

Are you thinking about spending your holidays doing something meaningful? Have you thought about volunteering at one of our libraries in Africa or India? Do you want to get immersed into something completely new, challenging, yet life changing for a couple weeks? Join us and volunteer at one of our libraries!

  • Libraries which are accepting volunteers can be found in our list of libraries. All the libraries with an “ACCEPTING VOLUNTEERS” badge are currently accepting volunteers.

You can find more information about volunteering at a specific library on their profile.

  • Volunteering for us is free. We do not charge you anything. Likewise, our communities understand that volunteering is a non-profit activity and they cannot always afford to pay for volunteers. Therefore, the volunteers are often required to either cook for themselves or to pay a small fee to local women, who may then cater for them. On average the volunteers contribute between 10-50 USD per week to food, electricity and water. However, the conditions and prices are different at each library. Life in the village is more affordable than volunteering in or near a city. Prices may also vary according to the country you choose.

We will gladly provide more information about a specific place upon request - you can also find manuals for volunteers tailored to each library accepting volunteers on their library profile.

  • In general, there is no rule stating how long you can or have to volunteer. We always recommend a minimum of 2 weeks. It will take you at least a week to get used to the daily routine and program, to get to know the students and children, and to find your way around the community. In order to be able to contribute and leave a lasting impact of your volunteering activities, we believe, you need to stay at least a few weeks.

Nevertheless, we do not stipulate the conditions of your volunteer work. Each community decides on their own whether they want volunteers and under what conditions they are willing to accommodate them.
