India Tamil Nadu Bookfeeding
This is the very first Bookfeeding project and as such the most established one. There are two libraries at two AID India centers. A number of volunteers have visited these libraries and taught English or organized other activities.
This Bookfeeding Project was started by Beatrice in 2013 after she volunteered for AID India, a Tamil Nadu-based NGO, whose mission it is to empower socially disadvantaged people through socio-economic development programs and education. They accomplish this by providing microcredit access and training for income-generating activities.
The Project was born of the belief that a great deal of unused books, old electronic devices (PCs) and second-hand clothes would be of better use to help improve the two shelter homes currently managed by AID India, and hosting more than 80 kids from ages 4 to 18.
So far the Bookfeeding Project in Tamil Nadu has managed to collect more than 500 books sent by private donors and schools from many countries around the world.
