Manon's Stay In Madagascar
Manon stayed at our Ambohitrakely library in Madagascar for a month in November. Here’s what she wanted to share about her experience: “That was an incredible experience! It is very difficult to describe it. I was really stressed before my departure, especially because I don't like to be alone and there were no other volunteers. But Niry answered every question by mail before my arrival and I am very grateful for this. I took a taxi to join her for lunch my first day. And she explains and helps me to take the taxi brousse. After that, Pascaline was waiting for me and helped me every day with everything I needed. THIS PROJECT COULD NOT BE WITHOUT HER. She is the only one essential for the project. Because almost nobody speaks French and English there. Because she takes time for volunteers every day, she thinks about everything we need, she helps us to buy food, to show us how live is there....
For sure they miss Malagasy Books there. There are less and less, and what s a shame because most of the children do not speak French at all. It is very difficult to teach another language to them without translation. If you want to do activities, we have to buy things like leaves, ball etc. I think other volunteers have already bought everything, but nothing stays in the library for the next. It is a pity too that the library is not open office there is no volunteers, as before. And that they cannot lend Books without problems of returning.
But these are minimal concerns compared to all the advantages that the library offers. I really advice everyone to go out and have an experience like this one once in a life. Thanks a lot to Bookfeeding for allowing me to do this. I spent two days crying before my departure of the library.
